March 10 is a Day of Action. Save HUD.

165,000 MINNESOTANS ARE AT RISK.

The Administration has asked the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to cut its workforce by about half, and threatened reductions to programs and funding.

Nearly 165,000 Minnesotans rely on direct support from federal housing programs run by HUD - support that creates lasting housing solutions and strengthens communities across the state.

NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT.

If enacted, these cuts will have devastating consequences – increasing housing instability and homelessness (especially for low-income families and individuals), and worsening the national housing crisis, as well as reducing government efficiency.

Local communities and businesses will suffer, and property owners will lose rent revenue, which in turn could cause increased mortgage defaults and foreclosures.

MONDAY MARCH 10 IS THE DAY OF ACTION!

On Monday, March 10, Minnesotans are joining organizations and individuals all over the country to take action to protect HUD and the affordable homes it makes possible.

SUGGESTED MESSAGE:

“ My name is _____________ and I live at ______________________ . Cuts to HUD staff of 50% proposed by Elon Musk and DOGE will hurt me, my family, and my community. Without staff to implement congressionally approved funding, homeless shelters will close, home construction will stop, landlords won’t receive rent assistance payments, and homebuyers won’t be able to close on their loans.

[ here you could add more of your own personal thoughts]

Please support Minnesota families and oppose these cuts to HUD. ”
